Courses and teachers


What course level shall my child take?
  

  • Our courses are designed for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years who learn Chinese as their second language,  from entry to advanced level. 
  • There are 4 levels of courses.
  • When you sign up on the website, please take 1-2 minutes to fill in the information in ‘My account’. This information together with the teacher’s assessment during the trial lesson will help us customize the right level of Chinese courses for your child. 


Who will be my child’s teachers?
  

  • All our teachers have achieved Bachelor’s Degree or higher in either Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language or in Linguistics. Each teacher also has least 4 years of experience in Chinese language education, and has received at least secondary-level A  in teaching Mandarin. 

  • For each course package, we will recommend 3 teachers based on your child’s Chinese level and your requirement. You can try and choose the most suitable one as your child’s fixed teacher. 


Can I change my child’s teachers?

  • Yes. You can change your child’s current teacher by contacting your learning assistant.


How do I track my child’s learning progress?

 
  • We share the teacher’s feedback on your child’s performance after each class. We also provide an assessment report of each unit for your review.
  • We give students a test when they finish all the courses for each level, and the result and a learning advice will be sent to parents. 
  • For direct contact with your teacher on ZOOM CHAT, please ask the customer service to guide you through. (WhatsApp: 65 91566755)


How do I review the courses and download the learning materials?

  • We record every lesson for your child. The recorded classes are shared via email or ZOOM CHAT

  • You will also find the learning materials in the folder of your Online Classroom.

How much does a session cost?

  • We offer discounts on selected bundles. Click here to see the full pricing information.


How can I get a refund?

  • Yes, We will refund in full, any unused classes within 7 days of purchasing a class pack.  After 7 days, the amount of refund will be based on your package price paid minus your remaining classes charged at the single class rate (including no-shows).

Equipment

    • You can enter the Online Classroom via computer, iPad or mobile phone. 

    • You will need a webcam and a headset(optional) for a better online class experience.

Schedule Classes


How do I book a trial lesson?

  • Click here and book online. Please note you can only book the trial lesson at least 24 hours in advance.


Book the course package:

  • After your first class, you will receive your Chinese Level Assessment Report for your child within 24 hours. Based on the assessment, our linguistic expert will recommend the teachers, course level and package for your child, and then, your learning assistant will help plan the schedule according to your preference.

  • We suggest you book 2-3 classes for a week for a better study achievement.


Book your classes:

  • The classes can be booked online 24 hours  in advance. 
  • You can book classes upto the next 30 days online. 
  • To book the recurring classes for over 30 days, please ask your learning assistant to make the booking for you.


Reschedule & Cancel the class:

  • You can cancel or reschedule the class on “my classes” page upto 4 hours  before the class starts. (The credit will be returned to your account upon the cancellation)
  • Contact your learning assitant(Whatsapp) or teacher(ZOOM CHAT) for any emergency changes for your class.


Late/No show/Missed classes: 

  • The teacher will wait upto 10 mins in the class, and meanwhile you will receive a text/call reminder via ZOOM CHAT/WhatsApp. 
  • The class will continue as usual if the student is late no more than 10 mins.
  • After 10 minutes or a no show, you can contact us within 24 hours to reschedule your class up to 2 times.

Security and Privacy


How do I protect my Child’s Safety Online?
We understand safety is paramount.

  • All Speaking Duck teachers must pass the the highest standard of identification and criminal checks. 

  • We record every online session your child attends for your review, and for our online security monitors.  (please contact us if you have any questions)

  • We ensure that all personal information is protected. We will not reveal any customer information or video to any external organization unless required by law.

Who do I speak to if I have any questions?

  • Once you have successfully signed up on the website, a study consultant will reach out you via Email, SMS or WhatsApp. He or she will hep you with the questions that you might have.

Can I have classes from anywhere in the world?

  • Yes. All you need is a stable internet connection.
